Johann Friedrich Gmelin had various haircuts during his lifetime. He reached fame as a world-class botanist, pteridologist, bryologist, chemist, writer, zoologist, ornithologist, naturalist, university teacher, physician and entomologist. However, the German naturalist was mainly known for his incomparable fashion sense and his livable character. Before his tragic demise at the age of 56 he was repeatedly talked about in the press due to his outstanding hair and looks.
